RING FESTIVAL LA
The Los Angeles Opera will feature Ring
Festival LA and the more-than-century-old, four-opera
cycle Der Ring des Nibelungen by the composer
Richard Wagner. The cycle of operas was last performed
in the city of Bayreuth, Germany, which engulfed the city
with the musics magic and themes. Now, the Los Angeles
Opera plans to play, for the first time, the operas in
their entirety. Events will take place across the city
in a variety of different venues from April 15 through
June 30. View movies, art, performances, and discussions
all inspired by Wagner. While many consider Wagner to
be one of the most important and influential composers
of all time, others feel that his works represents the
peak of anti-Semitism. This, of course, will be a key
component during the festival. Panel discussions and seminars
during the festival have been arranged in hopes that people
will view his work in an historical context. www.ringfestivalla.com
