AMERICAN SONGBOOK
by Joseph Pedro

Throughout its history, New York City’s Lincoln Center has played host to the world’s most impressive musical talents, and 2009 is no exception. This year marks the 11th anniversary of the American Songbook, an exquisite showcase of the best in popular music. During the three-month run, world-renowned musicians will mesmerize audiences with performances of folk, pop, cabaret, R&B, country, rock, show tunes, and bluegrass. With a rare solo concert by Tony Award-winner for South Pacific, Paulo Szot, performances by vocalists Kurt Elling and Patty Loveless, and Broadway and film stars Alan Cumming and David Hyde Pierce, it is the perfect way to kick off 2009. The Allen Room at Lincoln Center will serve as the perfect venue for this all-star lineup. January 14 through March 6. www.lincolncenter.org
