Zurich, Switzerland's largest city, was dressed in rainbow colors top to bottom to celebrate the 16th Annual Europride Parade and Festival on June 6th, 2009. Corine Mauch, the mayor of Zurich, (and an openly proud lesbian) cut the ribbon to launch the parade. Despite a late downpour, the spirits of the 50,000+ attendees was not dampened. Spirits soared (and flowed) at both street parties taking place at Munsterhof and Burkliplatz.
