This electronic dance music duo, consisting of Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, epitomizes 80's pop, and is generally recognized as pioneering electronic music. Selling more than 100 million albums worldwide in the past 25 years, these two guys shows no signs of slowing down. Last month, they released their new album titled Yes, which has garnered rave reviews. This week, the boys released a DVD of their concert Pandemonium, and they also released dates for the final stretch of their UK tour.

The scale and complexity of the show has been further increased since that show last year. The multi-media performance includes an evolving cubist stage set, amazing projections, stunning choreography and dancers and extraordinary costumes. The Pandemonium show is split into four distinct acts and offers fans a chance to sing along to all their hits.
Gay & Lesbian Center, calling for The Recording Academy to denounce both music and artists that celebrate violence against any group of people during Sunday night's Grammy telecast. The ad, which appears as an open letter to The Academy's President, Neil Portnow, was incited by anti-gay reggae singer Buju Banton's nomination in the Best Reggae Album category. Much of Banton's music glorifies the murder of LGBT people and might have helped to inspire an anti-gay culture in Jamaica where violence against LGBT individuals is disturbingly common.

"It's outrageous that The Recording Academy has chosen to honor, with a Grammy nomination, someone who proudly and unabashedly performs music that glorifies the violent murder of gay and transgender people,” said GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios. In their defense, the Academy responded that the Grammy Awards honor musical achievement “regardless of politics” and that “artists of a variety of political or cultural perspectives have been nominated or featured on the telecast.” Yet, L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center Chief Executive Officer Lorri L. Jean remained unmoved stating, “Music that promotes the violent murder of LGBT people, or any other group, doesn’t reflect a political or cultural perspective.” Tune in Sunday to see who gets the last word.
Musicians and fans from around the world are meeting October 14 -18, 2009 as the streets of Reykjavik, Iceland become the stage for concerts, parties, and special events.

This year, over 200 bands from around the world are set to perform including The Drums, FM Belfast, Crystal Antlers, and Casiokids. In addition, the legendary GusGus will close their 2009 world tour with a performance at Iceland Airwaves.

Iceland is well known for their unique and creative musical talent. It is after all the home of Bjork and Sigur Ros. Iceland Airwaves is produced in cooperation with Icelandair, The City of Reykjavik, and Mr. Destiny Event Management. Over the years the festival has seen performances by some of music's hottest and most innovative acts including Suede, The Flaming Lips, The Hives, Fatboy Slim, and Thievery Corporation.

While tickets are sold out for this year, it is never to late to plan a trip for next year. Read all about my adventures in Iceland here.
