The LGBT travel, mega convention is almost upon us, and PASSPORT couldn't be more excited about attending the IGLTA event in Antwerp, Belgium from June 23-27. Of the myriad discussions, panels, dinners, and parties, the most important events are those that pay homage to individuals and companies that have helped to make the world a more welcoming place for LGBT travelers. The IGLTA will hold two awards presentations, honoring both longtime travel contributions and new concepts that are putting gay travel on the map.
IGLTA's gala dinner, on June 25, features the presentation of two established awards, chosen by the association's board of directors:
The Chairman's Award will go to Jose Sampol, TAM Brazilian Airlines, Director of North American Operations and a dedicated friend to the LGBT travel community.
The Hanns Ebensten Hall of Fame Award will be presented to The Spartacus International Gay Guide, which celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2011.
The IGLTA Honors premiere this year, which will occur at the luncheon on June 24, will recognize leaders in LGBT tourism across a wide range of categories:
