Overlooking beautiful Lake Como, Italy’s Villa d’Este is truly a place where romance and relaxation cohabitate in perfect harmony. The estate is made up of two buildings: the original, built in the 16th century, and the trompe l’oeil Queen’s Pavilion, built in the 19th century. Though each of the 152 guest rooms reflects the hotel’s history through period furniture pieces and stunning oil paintings, they are also equipped with modern-day comforts like Wi-Fi and LCD Televisions. Looking out the window or stepping out onto your balcony, you’ll have a view of either the lake or the surrounding gardens filled with an abundance of flowers.

It took only 47 years, but Lennie Gerber (88) and Pearl Berlin (77) finally got married. The two met back in 1966. Berlin, who was a professor back in 1966, hired Gerber to work with her at Wayne State University in Detroit and only after a few days upon meeting they decided to move in together. The couple went on to fight for social justices. Gerber became a lawyer who specialized in LGBT rights and the film “Living in the Overlap” was created in light of their work. The lovers decided to marry on their 47th anniversary June 2nd after Gerber’s niece asked why they were waiting to get married. One hundred and thirty guests attended Gerber and Berlin’s wedding ceremony at Beth David Synagogue in Greensboro, North Carolina. Although the state does not permit same-sex marriage, the couple said they are not waiting for the law to change. As of now the couple is happy to have had a ceremony to celebrate their life together. “Every morning Pearl and I wake up with a kiss and a little schmooze,” said Gerber. “Now, Pearl also says, ‘We’re married!’” [The Times of Israel]
Have you looked back in your high school yearbook recently? Remember the girl with the best fashion, the guy who was the class clown, or even the two that made the cutest couple. The cutest couple usually went to the popular jock on the football team and a cheerleader, as often portrayed in movies, but this year Carmel High School in New York voted for a new type of couple. Bradley Taylor and Dylan Meehan were given the cutest couple title last week and since then have received international attention. The couple’s best friend Chelsea Blaney announced their title with pictures and caption saying they won cutest couple. After several minutes the picture earned 7,000 likes and has given them the opportunity to appear on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. “The support people are giving us and people yelling out ‘you’re famous’ makes it so exciting, Meehan said. Aside from Meehan receiving considerable online recognition, the post has inspired many other gay teens to come out as well according to Blaney who has received comments about it on her tumblr account. “I got comments from ‘They’re cute’ to ‘This has inspired me to come out to my parents,’” said Blaney. The now famous couple met through a friend and decided to come out to their parents a week later. They have been together a year this June and both will be attending New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, for which they have both received a scholarship. [www.lhoud.com]

Today, little-known artist Sam Peters released a beautiful song titled “Man Oh Man,” which is about his blossoming friendship-romance with his best friend Adam Colton. Check out what the Los Angeleno had to say about the new video.
I’m so excited to be showing you the video for the song Man Oh Man. This is an honest to god song about having your heart captured by a most beautiful friendship. I met my “hubby” Adam Colton at the rock climbing gym about a year and a half ago, and he came into my life like a whirlwind. We went camping and rock climbing, we had midnight skates down by the beach where Adam transmitted to me the art of being a long boarding ninja and a slacklining bodhisattva. During our long evening rides we tirelessly philosophized about the 3 essentials of any man’s life; pooping, eating, and love. It feels a lot like being 13 all over again but without the whole emotional insanity that comes with going through puberty.

The Travel Channel’s hit show, Hotel Impossible follows veteran hotelier Anthony Melchiorri as he re-vamps struggling accommodations. This week’s in-need hotel will be the LGBT-focused Maui Sunseeker Resort in Kihei Maui. This adults-only resort has been open since 2008 featuring 26 rooms and a well-loved staff, but still struggles to gain a larger clientele and maintain a decent cash-flow. With Melchiorri’s aid in re-designing their marketing strategy, as well as their rooftop deck and some basic aspects of their offered amenities, this hotel, which prides itself as being the “largest gay-owned and operated hotel in Hawaii serving the gay and lesbian market,” has already seen an increase in business and enthusiastic responses from the public.
Hotel Impossible premiers on December 3, with the Maui Sunseeker episode airing on December 17th at 10 pm on the Travel Channel. Check out a glimpse of what’s to come this season on Hotel Impossible after the jump.
Social networking and dating website for HIV-positive gay men, Volttage.com, launched this week with nearly 600 new members on Monday. Co-creator, AIDS activist and Project Runway star, Jack Mackenroth says, “Sex sells, but we are much more than a hookup site.” The site is different from other similar social sites for same-sex loving men as it goes further than just dating or “romantic encounters,” by combating stigma and plans to create a database of information, support, and resources for gay men who are a part of the international HIV-positive community.
Mackenroth, who appears on the site with other HIV+ models says, “We provide an alternative for HIV+ men who often feel stigmatized and discriminated against on the other sites. As the site develops and grows, we will incorporate features like forums and blogs that will strengthen a sense of community and acceptance.” The site also differs from other sites because it doesn’t ask members to reveal their HIV status (though it is clear that the site is for HIV+ men and their supporters).

It’s the dream wedding: walking down the aisle, moving slowly toward the person of your dreams as friends and family stand with tears in their eyes. Now, replace the aisle with Toronto’s main thoroughfare and your friends and family with thousands and thousands of LGBT revelers at Pride Toronto, and you’ve got New York City residents Carter Etherington and Breken Elwood’s winning wedding. The two men are the lucky winners of Tourism Toronto’s contest. In order to win, the couple had to take a photo with a cake installation where gay and lesbian couples were able to enter to win by having their photo taken posing with the cake. Photos were snapped June 1st-3rd, in New York City with more than 100 entries received. Couples’ photos were hosted on Tourism Toronto’s Facebook page, where participants tagged themselves and shared their entry. Tourism Toronto selected the winning couple based on charisma, enthusiasm, and a statement submitted on why they’d like to get married during Toronto’s Pride Festival.
These lucky soon-to-be-married boys will receive an exclusive wedding gift from Tourism Toronto, including two round-trip Executive Class airline tickets from New York City to Toronto on Air Canada, hotel accommodations at the luxurious Windsor Arms Hotel, ground transfers, marriage ceremony as part of the Pride Parade, and more, valued at more than $20,000.
