Right-Wing Sheriff Paul Babeu Outed in Arizona. Ex-Boyfriend Says He Was Threatened With Deportation
Sheriff Paul Babeu, who is running for Congress in Arizona, has just recently admitted to being gay after being outed by his alleged ex-boyfriend, Jose. Babeu has supported John McCain, Mitt Romney, and their right-wing policies, but has recently stepped down as co-Chairman of Romney’s campaign in Arizona. Babeu said it was because he did not want his own personal scandal to reflect on Romney’s campaign. It looks as if Sheriff Babeu has been living two lives. According to the Phoenix New Times, the accusations came complete with text messages said to be between the two men as well as compromising photos. Jose has said that not only was he in a relationship with Babeu before and after being elected Sheriff, he also said that Babeu threatened to deport him if he ever went public with the relationship. Babeu, in a news conference on February 18, said that the only accusations made by his ex-boyfriend Jose that were true is that he is gay, all other claims, are false. [TPM]
