New Poll Shows Most Marylanders Favor Gay Marriage
A new poll shows that a majority of Maryland residents favor the legalization of gay and lesbian marriage. Overall 50% of those surveyed support marriage equality in The Old Line State, though support varied drastically along lines of race, religion, and age, a Washington Post poll showed. Only 44% opposed allowing gay couples to marry, making this “…the highest recorded level of support in Maryland in a Post poll.” Among whites, 71% support marriage equality, while only 41% of blacks support marriage equality. Gov. Martin O’Malley will try to pass legislation this coming session.
