Social Networking at 35,000 Feet

We’ve all had our share of uncomfortable flights thanks to the wrong seat mate. Flag carrier of the Netherlands, KLM, is about to let us take our seat-neighbor fate into our own hands with their new “meet-and-seat” service. Once you’ve booked your flight aboard KLM, log on to a special website where you can link to your Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn and the website will connect you with fellow flyers with similar interests. Of course we see the benefits of this. We’d rather be sitting next to someone jazzed about the latest in-flight movies rather than a Dutch grandma who talks about her cats and grandchildren the entire way to Amsterdam (yup, that really happened).
