France’s President Will Not Attend Russia’s Olympic Games
World leaders are beginning to take a stand against Russia’s disturbing anti-gay propaganda laws by not attending the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Last week, German President Joachim Gauck said that he would not attend the games, and now France’s President Francoise Hollande has publicly confirmed that he will not be attending. “There are no plans to attend,” Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius told Europe 1 radio. It is likely that super-gay-friendly Hollande, who was instrumental in passing gay marriage in France, is choosing not to attend because of of Russia’s discriminatory policies, though his camp hasn’t admitted that he is not attending as a form of boycott.
