Currently, it is illegal in St. Petersburg, Russia to promote homosexuality in any way. Now, a bill that will come up for a first vote later this month, will extend a similar anti-gay propaganda law nationwide. The legislation, which is being championed by the Kremlin and the Russian Orthodox Church, “would make it illegal nationwide to provide minors with information that is defined as ‘propaganda of sodomy, lesbianism, bisexuality and transgenderism’…It includes a ban on holding public events that promote gay rights,” as reported by¬†Yahoo! This bill, if passed, will “legislate” anti-gay discrimination and violence across Russia.
