Diving darling Matthew Mitcham is set to make literary news when his autobiography Twists and Turns is¬†released by HarperCollins on November 19th. The Australian diver’s story begins with his being discovered at age 11, while already a champion trampoline gymnast. The book includes his struggles with self-doubt (which, at one point led to him quit diving and find work at the local circus), and his gold-medal win at the 2008 Beijing Olympics where he set the highest single-dive score in Olympic history. Twists and Turns may quickly become a bestseller due¬†to the high volume of followers that admire Mitcham for both his athletic success, as well as for his determination to live honestly and openly as a gay man while in the public eye.

Graeme Aitken, from the Bookshop Darlinghurst, will help host a launch party for the book on Tuesday, November 20 at the Midnight Shift Hotel in Sydney.
